Self portrait

  1. Firstly think about the type of person you want to portray
  2. Where are you going to take the picture, Think about a location important to you or the image that you want to project.
  3. How will you structure the image? Props, or picture editing software (what are you going to manipulate?)

last weeks exhibition (notes)

In last weeks exhibition to raise money for children in need we decided to make themes up for each day of the week.

The first day was neon tuseday we were asked to bring in somthing bright and coulorfull so that we woyuld stand out, unfortinately i forgot but i went into town and brought some glow sticks.

On wensday the theme was mad hats so i wore a silly looking criket hat on that day i took some photos of other people and there mad hats.

Then thursday the theme was random day which ment we could where what we wanted so me and stuart decided that it would be fun to dress up as rebels of call of duty 4 also on that day i took pictures and helped to set up the exihibiton boreds.

On friday the theme was animmals but as the rental costs for a bunny outfit is £40 i could not come in as anything.

lighting (notes)

on the 12th of november, we lernt about lighting. how shadows affect the photos and how we can change them. The colour of lights so natural light is white light, but the light from the red head is a orange shade and to make is white you need to put a blue shade over it.

world upside down

for the world upside down we studied Rene Magritte's ceci n'est pas une pipe and the way that images represent objects with meaning, like signs or symbols. the image captured by the camera is not the real item that we are thinking it is. It is a picture of it.

in my picture i decided to uses the theme going against society.
my first picture is of four pillers three of them one colour and one of them is a differnt colour

for my second picture i have taken a picture of a reprisentation of a person jumping to get a ball
i think this is good because it is a reprisentation of a person amd the image is not real so that is a reprisentation as well.

in my third image i chose to capture a car in a no parking spot. This demostrats my theam of going agasnt sersiaty

decisive moments

I was asked to go and take pictures of decisive moments. in the picture on the left the position that he is in is very percerios, if he doesnt get the trick right he could fall and hert himself so in that second he has to do somthing about it this is what makes it a decisive moment.

In the picture on the right the man is performing a skatebored trick in the air the blurd focues and the sun shining brightly on him suggests movment, and what he does in that second could change his life.

urban vs nature

portaiture

at first i thought that this photo would be a decisive moment but scott was asked to perform this action and because of that it is a portrait. that you can not see his face could suggest it is not.

These two pictures have been taken by Robert capa the first one is from the assault on the Normandy Beach's on d-day. In that picture he has taken it from behinde that men that actualy fighting to sujests a charge.

This picture is of a spainish civil war fighter dying. the effect this can have on some people when they see this is terible, it shows you the grim truth of war. in most of robert capa's picture he has tried to encupsulate this.

uban vs nature

i took a picture of the library with the sun shining through a gap in the cloued, you can see the light spectrum as well.
This picture by David Hockney is many photos joined together to create a landscape photo the flow of the picture draws you toward the back of the scene and the golden 3rd is right in the middle of the picture where he was put the brightest bits of it.

notes from lesson

in Thursdays lesson i learnt about the golden 3rd and the rule of thirds, the golden 3rd is the part of the picture (normaly the middle) that has the most informasion in it. also people in westen parts of the world look at pictures in a Z type pattern, this has been proven. people in other part of the world (eg. china) read in a downwards patter. photography itself was invented in the 19th century by a french man called nicephore niepce, but because his photo took so long to develope (8 hours) he sort after a faster way to produce them.
